Our school joined the project Socrates Comenius in September 2005. For the first time our school had an opportunity to find partner schools from abroad.
In November they were our guests in Poland. The programme of the visit included visiting Poznań, which is the capital of our region - Wielkopolska and seeing the play Carmen in the opera in Poznań. We also visited some places in the area: a beautiful palace in Kopaszewo, Turew, Cichowo. The guests saw Soplicowo where the scenes to the film Pan Tadeusz, based on the masterpiece by Adam Mickiewicz were made. There were also presentations of the medieval combats of knights together with Polish hospitality. The first meeting of the schools was foccused on presenting the schools and the regions that rhey come from. Our students prepared a multimedia presentation about our region. They gathered rnaterials and information and prepared albums. A webside concerning the project was created.
In March 2006 a group of studnets and teachers form our school went to Magenta in Italy. Before the rneeting we had been preparing for a few months a presentation entitled: Emigrants and immigrants and their role in the past of our country. In order to prepare well, our students went to the regional Museum in Leszno to find some information and photos on the topic. They were in particular interested in ehe patron of the whole project Socrates - Jan Amos Komeński called Comenius. They were also interested in the Jews who lived in the region and left a rich heritage.
The visit in Italy was great. We had an opportunity to get to knoty the culture and the monuments of Italy as well as learn more about the role of emigrants and immigrats in the past of each of the partner schools countries. Since March our students have been gathering information and materials on all forms of culture and art in the past of our region. They have also been prepering an exhibition which was shown during Entry Day at our school in April. The exhibition will also be shown to the public in June 2006 at the local Library.
